Let's build something real
JANELLE BELL
Janelle
Founder of QALI. Mom of three. Vancouver-based.
I didn't grow up dreaming about hair extensions. Before QALI, I spent years in VFX production management at Weta Digital and Double Negative — a world of tight timelines and zero room for chaos. Then, on a trip to New Zealand, I tried a hair extension method as a client that changed everything: no industry experience, no five-year plan, just a strong hunch. That hunch became QALI in 2018.
I'm also mom to three, someone who works in bursts instead of straight lines, and the person behind "Type C" — not a productivity hack, but a way of naming how founders like me actually get things done when the traditional playbook doesn't fit.
These days I split my time between running QALI, building content around beauty, business, and the reality of doing both without losing myself, and helping other founders move past the parts of building a business nobody prepares you for.
If you're a brand looking to collaborate, an event looking for a speaker, or a founder who needs a push past "someday" — you're in the right place.

QALI started with a hair extension method I discovered as a client in New Zealand — zero industry experience, just a hunch. I founded it anyway in 2018, and it's been teaching me ever since.
You don't have an idea problem.
You have a step 4 problem.
Type C founders don't struggle to start — we struggle with the unglamorous middle part, where an idea actually has to become a business. I built this framework out of my own experience running QALI in bursts instead of straight lines, not a five-year plan. "Start Before You're Ready" is the guide I wish someone had handed me at the beginning: the framework, a first-90-days plan, and permission to move messy instead of waiting to feel ready. Be first to know when it launches.
